Private Foundations

An individual or family may establish a Private Foundation to hold the family's charitable funds. The donor can have complete discretion in distributing the funds to publicly supported organizations of his choice. Contributions to the foundation qualify for income, estate and gift tax charitable deductions, subject to certain restrictions. Families who choose private foundations retain maximum control over where they distribute their charitable assets, and can use the Foundation to teach good stewardship to succeeding generations.

Planned Giving Concepts helps foundation managers for private foundations with these comprehensive services as required:

  • Federal tax returns including Forms 1023 and 990PF or 990.
  • State tax return preparation.
  • Calculation of required minimum distributions.
  • Annual reporting.
  • Review of all legal documents.
